There are a couple ways that subscribers will be added to a funnel.
Example 1. The publisher has connected their main list to a funnel. This is where the subscriber signs up to the main list and is automatically sent the first article in the funnel series, via a trigger.
Example 2. The publisher has created a standalone funnel series where there is usually multiple articles in a sequence. This funnel is not associated with any list.
When a subscriber is added to a funnel that contains only one article, once they have received the article, they are marked as a “Finished” subscriber. “Finished” subscribers are no longer active because they have received all articles in the sequence.
You can view the subscribers that have finished the sequence by going to “View” in the Subscriber Management tile of the funnel dashboard.
Then use the drop-down menu to view “All Subscribers.” The subscribers listed with a blue dot are the “Finished” subscribers.
When a subscriber is added to a funnel sequence with multiple articles, the subscriber is marked as active until they receive all the articles. This means the subscriber will have a green dot indicator and counted towards the current subscriber count in the funnel.
