Managing Lists. Do New Uploads Overwrite?

Chris Cox Jan 16, 2013 08:11AM EST

If I import a new mailing list, will it overwrite the current one? I'd like to scrub some of the names from my mailing and it doesn't appear to overwrite. Do I have to set up a new mailing altogether?

The short answer is no.

To better manage your mailing list, log into FeedBlitz, find the newsletter whose subscriber list you'd like to manage.

Below the graph you'll see a box with the heading Subscriber Management.

Click View (in the menu below the box)

You can manage your list from here.

OR if you want to move a user who has not opened an email in the last 30 days (or any arbitrary length of time).

Create a New Mailing List - while you don't have to use this option to try to gain back those inactive subscribers, it's not a bad idea.

Now go back to the list you want to manage and from that same Subscriber Management box, find the Move / Transfer option.

Now you can move people who haven't opened your emails in a certain number of time by using a segment expression like the following:

optedin<"year-mm-dd" and NOT (opened>="year-mm-dd"
OR clicked>="year-mm-dd")

If you set the first date to be six months ago and the second date (in both opened and clicked) as the date of your last mailing, you'll create a list of subscribers who haven't interacted with you in six months.

You can move (not copy) these subscribers to the list you just created and either use it to build a re-engagement campaign like the one outlined here:

http://www.feedblitz.com/advanced-email-marketing-list-hygiene/

or you can delete it altogether.

Creating your re-engagement campaign will not cost you extra. We don't charge by the number of mailings you send, but rather by the number of inboxes you send to. If you use this method to get rid of inactive subscribers, it may drop you to a lower monthly tier.

As always, feel free to reach out to Support@FeedBlitz.com with any questions.
Kind regards,
Heather
