About FeedBlitz and Zapier

Zapier.com is a service that enables you to link together over 1,000 different apps and web services, including FeedBlitz. Using FeedBlitz and Zapier together, you can trigger actions in other services based on activity in FeedBlitz, and you can make things happen in FeedBlitz based on activity in another system.

Apps integrating with Zapier include:

  • e-Commerce platforms, like Shopify and WooCommerce.
  • Payment services, like PayPal.
  • Productivity platforms like gmail, google docs,
  • CRM solutions like Salesforce.com, Hubspot and Insightly.

So here is the kind of thing that Zapier enables you to do:Start a sales funnel when someone buys a product from your Shopify store.

  • Start or stop a subscription to a premium newsletter based on PayPal payment updates.
  • Add a FeedBlitz subscriber to your Salesforce CRM as a new lead when they activate a subscription.

You can trigger actions in other services based on a subscriber joining or leaving a list; you can take actions in FeedBlitz based on triggers from other Zapier-supported services to change a subscriber's status, modify a group or suppression list, or update a subscriber's tag / custom field.

Zapier has both free and paid plans, depending on the number of integrations you use, and how much activity they have. You can use Zapier with any FeedBlitz site owner account.

Getting Started

You'll need a FeedBlitz account with at least one active list or funnel. Group, suppression list and custom field actions will need you to have these defined as well; you can find links to get to them in the "Subscribers" top menu.

You'll also need a FeedBlitz API key, available at https://app.feedblitz.com/f/f.fbz?pl_api (or you can navigate to it, via your account menu, top right).

Unsurprisingly, you'll need a Zapier account too. For testing, a free one is just fine to start with, though many busy sites will probably want to step up to a paid account. Zapier will tell you if you need to update your account with them.

Zap! How it Works

Tying two services together in Zapier is done with what Zapier calls a Zap. You make a Zap, starting with the triggering event (such as a new order in your Shopify store), and then get that trigger to take an action (such as adding the customer's email address to a post-sales funnel in FeedBlitz).

Depending on the data available from the triggering system, you can do a great deal within FeedBlitz when you take the action. For example, you could tag the subscriber with the product they just bought, and use that as a filter in a subsequent FeedBlitz mailing.

Available FeedBlitz Triggers

These are events within FeedBlitz that can start a Zap, sending data to a different service:

  • Subscriber opted in.
  • Subscriber unsubscribed.
  • Funnel sequence completed.

Data sent includes the subscriber's email address and their field data, if any.

Available FeedBlitz Actions

These are what you can make FeedBlitz do, when another service sends a trigger our way via a Zap:

  • Add to or remove from a list or funnel.
  • Add to or remove from a group or suppression list.

Every FeedBlitz action allows you to tag the subscriber, or set a subscriber's custom fields, for later targeting and personalization.

A great way to build a sophisticated marketing automation solution is to take a triggering event from a third party service, and use a Zap to add the email address to a FeedBlitz funnel. Then, use the funnel to take further actions based on the subscriber's status or custom field data. For example, if you have multiple PayPal subscriptions available for premium email content, you can set up a single Zap to get the subscription updates from PayPal, and then use the funnel actions to switch the appropriate premium subscriptions on or off within FeedBlitz, based on the data from PayPal.

Recipes and Templates

To jump-start integrations, we have created "template" Zaps for you. They cover getting information into and out of:

  • Shopify
  • PayPal
  • EventBrite
  • Google Sheets
  • Gmail
  • Slack
  • Trello

We work with the hundreds and hundreds of other apps on Zapier too, even if they're not on the template list! Check back often to see what else FeedBlitz can integrate with.
