Regularly purging your list of inactive subscribers (people who no longer open your mailings) is an important part of healthy list management. Sometimes subscribers abandon email addresses and sometimes they create filters that send your email directly to their trash folder.
Regardless of how they became inactive, there's no point in paying for subscribers who won't interact with your content.
If you'd like, you can try to re-engage these subscribers through a re-engagement campaign. However, if you'd prefer to go ahead and remove them from your list, you can easily do this as well.
Start by navigating to your mailing list dashboard by choosing Subscribers > Lists from your left-hand dashboard and select the mailing list you'd like to work with.
From the Subscribers drop-down, select Delete From a List:
Next you'll be taken to the Subscriber Management page:
Because you have chosen to delete subscribers from the list, the information under steps 1 and 2 above are set for you. Inactive subscribers can be selected under Engagement Criteria. Once chosen, you'll enter a date in the past to gauge inactivity.
Note:
We recommend choosing a date which covers at least your previous five mailings to allow for normal interaction levels. The average time frame is generally 60-90 days in the past.
Run a count to see approximately how many subscribers are included in the date frame, and when you're ready, hit Next Step: Review >>
Look over the information on the review page to ensure you are deleting the subscribers you wish to remove. Then, click Start Process >> to proceed.
You'll receive an email when the process is finished. Please note, if you have a large list and mail frequently, it can take over an hour for our system to remove all the included subscribers.
